Zapanta, Camacho strike in November roll-offs
Ruselle Zapanta and Diana Camacho ruled the November roll-offs of the Budweiser Monthly King and Queen of the Lanes held at the Saipan Bowling Center.
Zapanta nearly finished the 4-game roll off in the 200s to win his first King of the Lane crown this year. He finished with an 819 for a 204.75 average and pocketed the $90 top purse.

Zapanta, fresh from helping the CNMI men’s four-member team to an eighth place finish in last month’s 28th Asian Intercity Bowling Championships in the Philippines, opened with a 213 to sit at third behind the 224 and 220 of Paul Pangelinan and Raymond Angeles, respectively.
Zapanta, who booked his spot in next year’s finals, followed it up with a 199 before closing out with a 206 and 201 for his more than 800 pinfalls.
Perennial men’s contender Percy Omechelang was 51 pinfalls behind to finish second with 768—202, 180, 171, 215. He averaged 192 and brought home the $40 cash prize that goes with his runner-up finish. Omechelang, despite failing to nail his fourth monthly crown, has already booked his place in the January finale as he previously won in June, July, and October.
Lito Teodoro finished third and got $25 after a 748—194, 164, 162, 228.
Meanwhile, Camacho topped the Queen of the Lanes with a day’s best of 715 or 42 pins ahead of last month’s winner Gloria Omechelang.
Camacho, who was the CNMI’s top female bowler in the San Juan edition of the annual Asian Intercity tournament, pocketed $80. She also ruled the June, July and September roll-offs.
Carrie Camacho managed to catch up with Omechelang (188, 199, 148, 138) as they ended up tied for second to third with 673s. Carrie Camacho had a roller-coaster performance of 139, 190, 151 and 193 to match Omechelang’s 168.25 average and receive $28.
