Police arrested a man in China Town Monday afternoon for allegedly hitting his wife on the forehead.

The wife was crying when police officers responded to the house. She was taken to the hospital after she complained of dizziness and pain on the head.

Zaji O. Zajradhara, 57, was taken before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho at the Supreme Court courtroom yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing on charges of assault and battery, assault, and disturbing the peace.

According to police detective Eugene Dillay, police officers responded to an apartment in China Town after receiving a call about a domestic violence Monday afternoon. When the officers arrived at the apartment, Zajradhara told them that he accidentally hit his wife with a towel, Dillay said.

One officer saw the wife crying while holding an infant in the bathroom.

The wife told police that Zajradhara was talking on the phone with a friend and that she got mad after hearing her husband tell the friend that she’s lazy, has no job, and has no money.

She said she told Zajradhara that she and their two children will be sleeping at her mother’s house in Susupe. Zajradhara allegedly got mad, grabbed a towel and hit her in the forehead with it. The wife said she also felt her husband’s fist hit her on her forehead.
