The 18th Youth Congress has requested the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors to include the Youth Congress as its partner in its Public Private Partnership, a program that enhances destination sites in the CNMI.

In a resolution that the Youth Congress recently passed, the Youth Congress senators expressed their desire to participate in the council’s PPP’s destination enhancement program.

Authored by Youth Sen. Easton Joel C. Dela Cruz, the resolution described PPP’s success as overwhelming and noted that the destination transformation enhancement can be seen and enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

The resolution also encourages all youth in the CNMI to join the PPP program.

The Youth Congress also commends the GCEA for its successful PPP destination enhancement of the CNMI’s natural sites, sports facilities, and attractions.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres created the GCEA on May 19, 2020, to lead the CNMI through the turbulent pandemic in fostering a creative, viable, and resilient economy in the Commonwealth. The council began requesting to foster PPPs in the development and maintenance of CNMI parks, tourist sites, and sports facilities. A year later, Dela Cruz said, more than 50 partners from the public and private sectors have stepped up and joined the council’s destination transformation campaign and have adopted more than 50 sites throughout Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, including parks, sports facilities, and nature sites.

He said the GCEA assists partners by providing equipment and tools that they can use to maintain the sites.
