The NSA Young Warriors pounced on the Marauders NMI Rollers, 46-17, during their boys U15 game in the 2018 Frank M. Diaz Memorial Youth League yesterday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Young Warriors held the Rollers to two field goals in the first half en route to the lopsided win.

With the Rollers failing to find their targets in the opening 20 minutes of play, the Young Warriors established a 22-6 halftime advantage. Ian Norita led the Young Warriors’ charge early in the game, as he knocked in 9 points in the first half. Five other NSA players scored in the opening frame, while only Gerald Beronio and Mark Laitan made field goals for the struggling NMI Rollers. Beronio drilled the Rollers’ first basket, while Laitan nailed a triple, and Rexson Calage split his charities to account for the team’s dismal production.

The Rollers continued to bleed for points in the second half, while the Young Warriors did a better job scoring and spreading the wealth, as the latter’s coaches shuffled their players in the final frame. Nine Young Warriors players ended up gracing the squad’s box scores, while only four hit the board for the Rollers.

Norita paced the Young Warriors with his 15 points, while four of his teammates contributed at least 4 markers each. Calage was the lone Rollers player to make more than one field goal in their loss.

Meanwhile, the 670 Sonics XVII outclassed the NMI Rollers, 47-39, in the boys U18 division match last Monday.

Jehp Ejercito, Paulo Cadag, and Christian Bravo teamed up in lifting the 670 Sonics XVII to the 8-point winning margin. Ejercito finished in twin digits with his 10 points, while Cadag and Bravo chipped in 8 apiece. J.P. Cruz and Devon Pangelinan top-scored for the NMI Rollers, as they tallied 13 each.
