Yogurt Farm opens to a crowd
The island has a new place for its “froyo” cravings when Yogurt Farm opened to a crowd last Friday afternoon.

Owner Michael Demapan had a busy grand opening with a line of young and older customers stretching all the way outside the doors.
One high schooler, Jershawn, who came with family and friends, called his froyo, “Awesome.” “We were really excited to have this open up because our family is really big yogurt fans. So having this open was really big news.”
“Tasty, delicious, creamy,” he said, describing the yogurt he got.
Cookies and cream, no sugar-added mint, non-fat tart, no sugar added blueberry, nonfat chocolate, and toffee are some of available flavors.
Demapan said new flavors are on the way like red velvet, alpine vanilla, and other “awesome flavors.”
He called Yogurt Farm a “healthier alternative” to the sugary desserts that people sometimes abuse.
“Yogurt is one of the healthiest dessert available,” Demapan said. “Saipan has kind of been lacking that for a long time. We wanted to bring something unique that everybody else has around the world here.
He thinks yogurt is for everyone, young and old.
“Yogurt is very all encompassing. Whether you are old and have a sugar restriction. Or if you have kids and you want to expose them to healthier alternatives other than plain ice cream. We give people the option to try to eat healthy,” he said.
The idea for Yogurt Farm has been in Demapan’s mind for over a year now. He described his efforts as “a lot of planning.” They bought their yogurt machines in December.
The frozen yogurt joint is located two roads behind Duty Free store and across the road from Chineng Ice Candy.
Demapan said they chose their location because it’s within the community and they want to give back that way. “It’s here all the time,” he said. “And it’s almost like a dessert street,” he added, noting that the ice candy store is just across the street.
Fr. Ike Ayuyu led a blessing of the premises before the opening.
