The Association of Government Accountants Guam Chapter scholarship program has awarded $500 to Guam Community College student Cleo Ylalim, who is working toward his associate degree in Accounting and is anticipated to finish in spring 2024. The $500 scholarship from the AGA Guam Chapter was presented on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
The scholarship availability was announced in January 2023 and was open to students who intend to pursue an associate degree in Accounting at GCC.
The AGA Guam Chapter is sponsored and funded jointly by AGA and private sector contributors in order to “advance government accountability” and transparency in all government levels by reaching out to all accountability professionals from accounting technicians to accountants.
“Scholarships are a great way for students to cover the cost of their education here at GCC. We are grateful for the AGA Guam Chapter and their continued support of our accounting students,” said Gemma-Lee Santos, financial aid coordinator at GCC. “If students do not qualify for a Pell Grant or receive a full Pell Grant award, we help students find other means to finance their education. Scholarships are a great way to accomplish just that.”
