Saipan has been hit with yet another gas price increase, just three months after the last price increase.
According to Mobil’s main office on Saipan, they were informed around 10am yesterday morning to increase their gas prices by 20 cents.
Mobil’s main office is not informed in advance as to any changes made to the gas prices.
As of yesterday, the price increase boosted the price of Mobil’s Extra fuel from $4.23 per gallon to $4.43 per gallon, while Mobil’s Supreme fuel went up from $4.60 to $4.80 a litter.
According to Saipan Tribune archives, gas prices were at $3.48 in early 2016 and continued to increase until it reached $3.93 in December 2016. A decrease of 10 cents was seen in June of 2017 before it increased by 10 cents again in October 2017.
A 13-cent increase was implemented on Jan. 8, 2018, raising gas prices from $3.95 to $4.08 per gallon and was raised just one month later by 15 cents on Feb. 5 from $4.08 to $4.23 per gallon.
Shell has yet to raise their gas prices but it is believed by Shell employees that they will follow suit shortly.
Gas prices have been going up nationwide since President Trump pulled the United States out of a deal with Iran, one of the world’s largest oil producers.
