Yankees’ Cruz leads SBL in batting
Gary Cruz lead two other Saipan Stevedore Yankees that finished in the Top 10 in batting leaders in Week 5 of the 2015 Saipan Baseball League season.

Cruz is currently batting .529 for the Yankees, who has won their last two games to improve to 3-1. He also had six RBIs to join the Brewers’ Pat Alepuyo at second place behind the eight of Yankees teammate Ben Jones.
The Yankees’ Jerome Delos Santos placed sixth with .444, while Peter Tomokane came in eighth with .385, which is also Alepuyo’s average.
Davie Matagolai is in second with .500 for the struggling Jets followed by the North Starz’s Chad Atalig (.462). The Brewers’ Jun Rabauliman and Falcons’ Henry Iguel are tied at fourth to fifth spots wit .455.
Anthony Tenorio (Fielders, .429); Peter Lieto (Falcons, .364); and Cedric Ada (Fielders, .353) came in seventh, 10th, and 11th places, respectively.
Roy Celis (Brewers), Verlance Secharmidal (Fielders), Byron Kaipat (Brewers), and Alex Benavente (Falcons) were the four players tied from 13th to 16th spots with .333.
Delos Santos and the North Starz’s Ricardo Dela Cruz have so far scored the most runs with eight each, while the Yankees’ Jones, who hit a homerun in a their 17-5 demolition of the North Starz on Jan. 14, has seven.
Alepuyo and Brewers teammate Manny Sablan and the Fielders’ Ricardo Dela Cruz had two doubles apiece.
The Falcons’ Peter Lieto, who is fourth on the ERA list with 1.64, leads the league in strikeouts with 25 followed by the Jets’ Mike Muna’s 23 and the Brewers’ Vince Cepeda’s 19.
Cepeda, the Falcons’ A.J. Lizama, and the Yankees’ Franco Flores all have zero ERAs.
Kevin Villamgomez (Fielders, 1,69); Aaron Benavente (Falcons, 1.80); Jonathan Tenorio (North Starz, 1.93); Dave Jones (Falcons, 2.00), Muna (Jets, 2.08), and Peter Tenorio (Yankees, 2.25) complete the ERA list.
