Gov. Ralph DLG Torres yesterday met with Japanese consul Hitori Kikuchi and the family of Natsuki and Chinatsu Yamada, the sisters who went missing while vacationing on Saipan in 2014.

The family updated Torres during a meeting around 11am yesterday on their work with the Department of Public Safety on the unsolved case.

Natsuki, 33, and Chinatsu, 26, disappeared last June 30 2014. Their rental car was found abandoned at Wing Beach in Marpi that day. They were supposed to fly back to Japan that same day. The two arrived on the island on June 28.

As DPS needs more information to solve the case, the family is offering a $10,000 cash reward for anyone who can offer case-related information.

“We encourage the community if you have any information that could help with this case to reach out to the Department of Public Safety,” Torres said in a statement to Saipan Tribune. “The family has experienced much grief and sadness over the loss of the sisters and if we as a community can help bring closure to this difficult chapter in their lives, we should do what we can.”
