X-Country finals at SCC golf course

All boys and girls qualifiers in the six age divisions after the three legs of Northern Marianas Athletics’ 2017 All Schools Cross Country Series will head down to the Saipan Country Club in Chalan Lao Lao in Middle Road for the finals tomorrow.

Participants must be at the golf course next to McDonald’s Middle Road by 6:30am for the check in, while the final briefing by competition director Elias Rangamar will be held before the start time at 7am. Races will end 9am, while the awards ceremony for the Top 3 in the Under-7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U18 divisions will take place after the competition.

The Saipan Vegas Resort, which owns and operates the nine-hole SCC golf course, has agreed to allow the NMA to use their facility for the finale of the cross country race. The Saipan Vegas Resort and the SCC golf course management will be closing the facility in the morning to give way to the event.

Agape Christian School, Dandan Middle School, Eucon International School, Hopwood Middle School, Marianas High School, Mt. Carmel School, Saipan Community School, Saipan International School, San Vicente Elementary School, and William S. Reyes Elementary School students made up the qualifiers in the final. All qualifiers were finishers in the three legs of the annual event held at the Airport field.

The U18 age group in the boys and girls divisions will be an interesting race with ACS’ Jonathan Xiong and Ella Zhang expected to face stiff opposition from the SIS pair of Alex Park and Tania Tan.
