Kim Church

Taking the helm of the upper elementary division of Whispering Palms School, Kim Church may be one of the most international of the very international population at the Navy Hill school.

Her teaching career has seen her span the globe from Venezuela, Ethiopia, Ukraine, and more. Church has also taught at Tanapag Elementary School from 1998-2000.

Aside from teaching high school ranging from AP literature to technology, Church also has that one very important element that every single teacher at Whispering Palms School possesses: passion. She has passion for her students, passion to see them excel and commitment to see those passions bear fruit.

To Church, success of her vision relies on the circle of three: student first, parent second and community third. Students make the class and the teachers are the lucky participants in the magical process created by the circle. Her philosophy and style may take on a whole new realm at Whispering Palms School, which has always valued the individual in each and every student the most.

Church’s undergraduate degree in special education and her current work toward her second master’s in special education reflect her focus as an the individual.

Church will bring with her not only a wealth of knowledge of the individual subjects she will teach but also a suitcase full of exposure to the rest of the world that can only benefit her students by widening their scope. Her students will be on a safari of their own.

Saipan is more than another destination for Church. It is a homecoming and a return to her roots. Saipan marks the roots of her teaching and adventure. The island holds indelible memories for her as she wed her husband, Ron Snyder, the new head of Saipan International School, at the Saipan Hyatt Regency in 2000. Church is also an avid conservation diver, a love that has extended to the entire family. Some of you may see her hiking the trails as well.

Her eldest daughter is currently working on her undergraduate degree in Bio Chemistry at New York University and her younger daughter will be returning to Saipan. The family is so excited about their return; they have decided to bring out their niece from New York with them.

Whispering Palms School students eagerly await Church’s arrival and cannot wait to start meeting the challenges from her innovative style and gaining unparalleled insight into corners of the world.

With extensive family and friends already on Saipan, Whispering Palms School’s globetrotting teacher, Church, will surely have a sweet homecoming with scuba gear in tow.
