Staff of the Oral Health Program under the Division of Public Health Dental Clinic went through an oral health workforce development training on Feb. 24-28, 2014.
The training was conducted by Dr. Ohnmar Tut, BDS/MPhil; Dr. Peter Milgrom, DDS; and Marilynn Rothen, who is a dental hygienist from the University of Washington.
The training was funded by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
As part of working with partners and stakeholders to better serve the community with regards to oral health, staff from the Children’s Clinic, Women’s Clinic, several daycare centers, family caregivers, three on-island dental clinics—Dental Care, Seventh-Day Adventist, and Smile Marianas—and the OHP staff participated in the training/presentation held at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. As a result of this training, participants are more knowledgeable and updated with the newest science-based caries prevention strategies that can benefit all dental patients in the CNMI. Those who attended received certificates of completion and attendance. (CHCC)
