In celebration of International Women’s Day, members of the CNMI Woman’s Association and the Office of the Governor’s Woman’s Affairs Office gathered together with members of the community to wave and show their support of women last Wednesday at the Garapan Fishing Base in Kristo Rai.
“It was truly an inspiring movement to see all women, from all walks of life, diversity, and stories come together and celebrate International Women’s Day,” said Valentina Rivera, CNMI Women’s Association’s project director. “I hope it won’t just take a day to continue our progress from all issues that we are facing. As Beyonce once said, “Who runs the world? Girls!”, and from that, I second it!”
When asked to commenton what International Women’s Day means to her, Edith Solayao said she sees the day as one of hope and encouragement to all women.
Nancy Zhang said she can describe the day as one that is fun and inspiring.
Shirley Ogumoru, special advisor to the Office of the Governor’s Women’s Affairs Office, who also joined the waving, said in encouragement to women “Let’s take it one day at a time and continue to inspire others!”
