Women gear up for 2021 Women’s Month
Under the banner theme, “Gender Equality: Key to Sustainable Development,” the 2021 Women’s Month Planning Committee, co-led by the CNMI Women’s Association and the Women’s Affairs Office, has planned a series of events to bring together the community in a collective agenda of empowering all women and girls and advocating for sustainable leadership:
• Wednesday, March 3, 2021: CNMI Women’s Month proclamation signing
• Thursday, March 4, 2021: “Women As Entrepreneurs: How to start a Business (hosted by NMC-SBDC and CWA),” Votes for Women Exhibit (hosted by JKPL), “Women’s Proclamation Day” at 9am (Rota Mayor’s Office, conference room)
• Friday, March 5, 2021: Women’s Mass celebration (San Isidro Church at 5pm)
• Saturday March 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2021: Motheread/Fatheread CNMI Family Literacy Class from 1:30pm to 2:30pm (hosted by NMHC/JKPL)
• Sunday, March 7, 14, 21, and 28 2021: Sirena Project (hosted by 500 Sails) at the Guma Sakman from 11am to 12pm
• Wednesday, March 10, 2021: *Women Leadership Training”
• Thursday, March 11, 2021: “Women as Entrepreneurs: How to Write a Business Plan” (hosted by NMC-SBDC and CWA)
• Monday, March 15, 2021: Outreach; Free Blood Pressure and Glucose Check before Women’s Walk-A-Thon at 5:30am (Rota)
• Thursday, March 18, 2021: “Women As Entrepreneurs: How to Prepare a Financial Plan” (hosted by NMC-SBDC and CWA)
• Thursday, March 25, 2021: “Women As Entrepreneurs: How to Prepare a Marketing Plan” (hosted by NMC-SBDC and CWA)
• Friday, March 26, 2021: “Women’s Recognition Day” hosted by first lady Diann Torres and second lady Wella Palacios, and “International Women’s Day”
• Sunday, March 28, 2021: “Day of Prayer” (hosted by WAO)
• Wednesday, March 31, 2021: “Training on Gender Equality,” “Women’s Health Waving” 4pm at Teteto Pavilion (Rota)

Government agencies, businesses, education institutions, and other stakeholders are strongly encouraged to participate and get involved in this year’s 2021 Women’s Month activities. “Women are at the heart of sustainable development,” said Cecilia Taitano, CWA president and 2021 Women’s Month co-chair. “As we continue to push for greater action, we have more work to do to connect the issues of gender, sustainability, and climate action.”
