Woman robbed at knifepoint inside car
Suspect pushed from moving vehicle
A woman was robbed at knifepoint inside her car in Garapan on Sunday afternoon, but she managed to push the suspect from her moving vehicle.
The suspect was able to flee with the victim’s $70 cash, but he was believed to have abrasions on his feet from being dragged by the vehicle.
Police said the suspect was described as a light-skinned Chamorro, tall, and with a cross tattoo on the top of his right hand.
The suspect was wearing camouflage pants and blue flip-flop sandals during the robbery.
The victim was not injured.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Travis Hurst said DPS received a call from a female caller about a robbery at 2:20pm on Sunday.
Hurst said police investigation showed that the female victim had just come from the Top Store in Dandan and had returned to her vehicle in the parking lot when the suspect got into the passenger seat of the car.
The suspect put a knife to the victim’s throat and ordered her to drive. He gave her directions as they drove.
The suspect repeatedly asked the victim, “Where is it?” The victim did not know what he was referring to.
As the vehicle was making a right turn to Kopa Di Oru Street in Garapan, the suspect took the knife from her neck to reach for something in the backseat.
At that point, the victim leaned over, opened the passenger door, and pushed the robber out of the car. The suspect fell out but he held on to the seatbelt. After he was dragged for a short distance, the suspect let go and fled.
The victim left the area and called the police.
