A 57-year-old Caucasian woman was found dead in her hotel room in Garapan Sunday afternoon.

A Commonwealth Health Center doctor pronounced the woman dead at 4:45pm, according to police officer Jason Tarkong yesterday.

Tarkong said there were no signs of foul play but an autopsy has been requested to determine the cause of death.

“The case is under investigation and the identity of the dead person will be withheld pending notification of next of kin,” Tarkong said.

Preliminary investigation showed that police officers responded to the hotel after receiving information about a dead person.

A housekeeping personnel found the victim lying on her bed as if sleeping. The personnel realized that the victim was dead so the hotel’s security was notified.

Tarkong said the police investigation showed that the victim had been staying at the hotel for several weeks and was last seen alive by hotel employees on Friday.

Tarkong said the victim left the sign “Do not disturb” on her door. The victim’s room had not been cleaned since then.
