A 27-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly repeatedly slapping an 8-year-old boy on the face, punching his stomach, and on a separate occasion placing his finger on a heated hair straightener.

Kaylynn Jane Hebron Deleon Guerrero was arrested for child abuse or neglect and assault and battery.

A $10,000 cash bail was imposed on her.

Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho set the preliminary hearing for April 20 at 9am.

Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for Deleon Guerrero. Assistant attorneys general Jonathan Wilberscheid and Betsy Weintraub appeared for the government.

Police Detective Buddy Igitol stated in his report that two police officers were dispatched to a child abuse complaint at a school in Kagman last Tuesday morning.

The officers observed the boy having a bruising around his left eye.

Through the school’s principal, the officers learned that last Monday the boy rode a bus from school to a bus stop in Kagman 2, where Deleon Guerrero picked him up.

While driving the car on their way to San Roque, Deleon Guerrero saw the boy sweating and she got angry and told him he was playing again. She then allegedly slapped the boy several times and punched him on the stomach.

Deleon Guerrero stopped the car at the abandoned La Fiesta Mall in San Roque, then told him to get down.

The boy expressed how afraid he was, after Deleon Guerrero drove off, leaving him alone in the abandoned mall. The report did not mention whether the boy walked on his way home or he was picked up later.

Police arrested Deleon Guerrero at her residence on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said through the principal, the boy claimed that on a separate occasion, Deleon Guerrero would switch on a hair straightener to heat up the tool.

As the tool heated enough, Deleon Guerrero would switch it off, then take the boy’s finger and place it on the tool’s heated area.
