Police investigation is ongoing in the death of a 62-year-old woman who fell Friday afternoon from the third floor of a three-story building across the Tanapag Middle School.

Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Tarkong said yesterday that family members identified the victim as Alicia I. Quitugua.

Tarkong said that Quitugua was a tenant of the D. Sebastian Building, where she lived on the third floor.

Saipan Tribune learned that Quitugua was staying with her son and his wife in that apartment unit. It’s not clear whether the couple was at the apartment when the incident happened. Some private companies also rent some units of the building.

Tarkong said that police responded on Friday at 2:14pm to a report of a dead person incident in Tanapag and that the initial call came from Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel.

DFEMS personnel were the first to respond to the scene.

Tarkong said Quitugua was found on the ground of the D. Sebastian Building with no pulse and was not breathing.

Relatives told Saipan Tribune that Quitugua’s body landed on the concrete planters on the ground floor. Family members placed flowers and lighted candles yesterday next to the planter.

Tarkong said that Quitugua’s remains were brought to the Commonwealth Health Center’s morgue for further investigative and preservative purposes.

“At this time, the investigation is ongoing and further release of any details of this case is forthcoming,” he said.
