The University of Guam-TADEO has partnered with International Centre for Theoretical Physics, University of California, Berkeley, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Green Wifi to host a workshop on Wireless Networking in the Developing World to be held at UOG on July 31 to Aug. 2, 2012.

The aim of this workshop is to develop wireless network skills in the regional workforce so that broadband connections can be extended at a lower cost to remote islands for education, health care, and research.

Workshop participation is limited to eight students due to course material licensing and team project installation. Preferred participants are university students with regional backgrounds who have a working knowledge of computer operations and networking.

The Wireless Networking in the Developing World workshop is free of charge for the eight students who are selected to participate.

Students may submit a letter of interest with current resume or bio to Manny Hechanova via email (mhechanova@uguam.uog.edu. The deadline to apply is July 24, 2012. (UOG)
