TanHoldings and Joeten 1 notched their second win in as many games after topping their respective opponents in the 2018 JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation Basketball League last Sunday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.

In the curtain-raiser, TanHoldings downed Top Development, Inc., 94-86, while Joeten 1 walloped Star Water in the second match, 109-84.

Joeten 1 set up the lopsided victory after going for the kill in the final canto where it scored 32 points—the team’s biggest output in a quarter.

With Joeten 1 reaching past the century mark, it had five players finishing in double figures. Alex Lauron scored 24 points, Ernest Duenas added 17, and Patrick Rotap, Ferdie Tobias, and Jun Sambile added 15, 12, and 11, respectively. Three other Joeten 1 players combined for 25 more points for the squad’s oustanding offensive game.

Lerio Pagarao also had an explosive shooting night to power TanHoldings to victory over TDI. The lefty scored 39 points, making shots from all parts of the court to hand TanHoldings the early lead in the eight-team Pool A.

TanHoldings and TDI were in a deadlock after the first period, 19-19, but the latter failed to contain Pagarao in the second, allowing the former to take a 53-42 halftime lead. Pagarao had 18 points in the second canto and his TanHoldings never looked back, withstanding TDI’s comeback bid in the final period.

Meanwhile, Docomo Pacific blew out Mobil, 93-49, to bounce back from its debut loss last week.

A 25-7 scoring surge in the first frame was all Docomo needed to control the match en route to the 44-point winning margin.

Robert Sanciango paced Docomo with his 17 points, while Jason Hayes and Tony Diaz chipped in 16 and 15, respectively.
