Wild Bill’s marches to Budweiser Cup semis
Wild Bill’s continued with their march to the Budweiser Cup Thursday Open 8-Ball, advancing to the semifinals after last week’s games held in various bars on Saipan.
Wild Bill’s added to Route 33 Alamo Car’s woes as the former escaped with a 9-7 win to earn the right of facing the Jokers Homeboyz in the semis this Thursday. Before the loss, Route 33 compiled a 172-98 record to earn the top seeding leading to their playoffs match against the Abyss Titans. They fell to eventual champions Titans, 9-6, on June 11 and settled for third place following a 9-8 win against the Jokers Homeboyz.
Wild Bill’s, on the other hand, completed the Budweiser Cup quarterfinalists after posting a 9-7 decision against the Titans before producing the same results over Route 33.
The Jokers Homeboyz trounced the Abyss Rack ‘N’ Roll, 9-5, to arrange a semifinals showdown with Wild Bill’s, while the Hobbies Deadshot clipped Smoke Pub Magic 8-Ball, 9-2.
Jonny’s Team SCS scored a win by walkover against the Jokers Wonderpool Aces, 9-0, as Rico Montano was the lone member who arrived for the latter.
Meanwhile, Tuesday league topnotcher Jokers IT&E Voyagers (176-124) earned a finals berth after posting a 9-5 triumph against the Jokers STR8 Shooters last week, while the Smoke Pub Armatech Hustlers downed the Abyss Crazy 8, 9-4.
The finals match between the Voyagers and the Hustlers and the battle for third place between the Crazy 8 and STR8 Shooters were still being played at press time.
The Budweiser Cup will then take place one week after the title match between the Voyagers and the Hustlers.
The awards banquet will be held on July 26 from 10:30am to 3pm at Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret.
