Whispering Palms School prepares for auction

Whispering Palms School students were busy this week putting the final touches on the classroom projects they were making to support the school’s annual Wine and Tapas Auction. Each classroom prepared items to be auctioned at the public event to be held on Friday, Jan. 27, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan beginning at 6pm.
The youngest students, aged 4 and 5, had help creating a framed collage of photographed hearts formed by the preschoolers’ hands. The lower elementary students in grades 1 to 3 created a map of the Northern Marianas using their fingerprints and colored paint. The upper elementary students worked together to create a collage of local nature photographs. Taking used pallets, the middle school students sanded and painted them to create original wall hangings. This is an event that is organized by parents, and everyone at Whispering Palms has a part to play in preparing for the auction, from organizing, selling tickets, collecting auction items, to set up for the event.
The Wine and Tapas Auction has been a regular event for Whispering Palms School for the last seven years. Beginning at 6pm, adults will have the opportunity to sample wines, bid on silent auction items, participate in a live auction, and play games. In addition to the projects made by the students, items to be auctioned include hotel stays, dinners, a unique surfboard, a skydiving experience, sports club memberships, and many more items of interest. The money raised at the auction will support the construction of an enhanced playground for pre-school students and other school projects such as the annual Mañagaha trip. Ticket prices are $35 for advanced purchase and $40 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from Whispering Palms parents or at the school. The school phone number is 323-7451.
Whispering Palms School is a private school for 4 year olds through the 8th grade, located on Navy Hill, and has open enrollment year-round. (WPS)
