What’s wrong with our educated young people?

I’ve talked to a couple dozen of you in the past few days and I find the majority of you to be intelligent and resourceful. Most of you have returned with a degree from off island and most of you work, or are hoping to work, for the government. Phooey on you! The ones that are keeping their options open, you need to band together and make this government listen to new ideas. Ideas about up-to-date Web pages, total transparency, accountability to all the people.

I saw Angel Demapan’s picture on a roadside billboard and, like I do to everyone I see on a roadside billboard, I Googled, Binged, YouTubed, FBed, Twittered, and LinkedIn him. Wow, was I impressed with his speech to his graduating class at the ELDP IN 2013—this young man can talk and inspire. Then I found out he was in the Hawaii Guard, another plus. This guy is what the CNMI needs—young, dynamic, and resourceful. Then I found out he was running under the Inos-Torres banner and, worse, he was hooked at the hip with Fitial and Eloy and that he joined FB on March 20, 2014, to try to fool the people that he is technologically-savvy. Angel, what happened to you? You had a home run. Actually it wasn’t a home run because you haven’t posted a single word on the issues and where you stand on them and you forgot to remember, you are known by the company you keep, and, in 2014, the social media websites you maintain.

So, to all you young, intelligent, undecided men and women that think all CNMI elections are fixed beforehand, they might have been in the past but your numbers are probably approaching 4,000 and, if everyone eligible to vote registers, creates an online presence and works hard, you could actually run your own candidate, even a write-in candidate, and win—if you all vote. With four teams splitting 13,000 votes, you can come in the top 2, enough for runoff.

P.S.: Frank Mitchell, thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated.
