Wastewater service interruption update

Share

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. would like to give an update to the public for the emergency wastewater service interruption for the customers connected to the South Wastewater Collection System, which provides sewer services to the following areas: Beach Road from San Antonio to San Jose at Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Road (Atkins Kroll) intersection, Middle Road from Quartermaster Road to Chalan Monsignor Guerrero Road (Chalan Kiya traffic light), As Terlaje Road, Chalan Tun Apa Road (by NMC), Airport Road, Chalan Monsignor Martinez Road from Shell Dandan to Koblerville and Agingan Point.

The cause of the wastewater service interruption was due to a pump and motor failure at the A-16 Lift station in San Antonio. CUC was notified about the problem at approximately 8am yesterday. Wastewater operators were able to turn on a secondary pump and motor at the A-16 lift station at approximately 10am to minimize any sewage overflows.

The A-16 lift station has been recently rehabilitated and is currently covered under the warranty period with the contractor. CUC, with the assistance of the contractor, are working together to help determine the root cause of the failure. However, they have installed a temporary bypass system to a nearby lift station to help keep up with the sewage flows and eliminate any sewage overflows to the affected areas.

CUC continues to work diligently to minimize any inconvenience to its customers. For more information, contact the CUC Customer Call Center (664-4282) or monitor its Facebook page for the latest updates (https://www.facebook.com/CommonwealthUtilitiesCorporation/). (PR)
