Warriors, Black Ball nip foes

The 9 Eleven MJD Warriors and sister team 8-Black Ball nipped their respective opponents to remain within striking distance of the league-leading Amari’s Blue Haus Homeboyz in the Budweiser Open 8-Ball Thursday division.
The Warriors and the Black Ball hold identical 15-11 won-loss records against the 20-6 mark of the Homeboyz after last week’s matches in the Saipan Billiards Association-organized weekly league. The Amari’s Intensity 8 (12-14), VFW Assassins (11-15), Sands Team SCS (11-15), 9 Eleven Titans (11-15), and Brannon’s Jam Shooters (9-17) complete the Thursday League’s eight-team field.
The Warriors completed a 7-6 win over the Intensity 8 behind the duo of Jerry Soriano and Roel Barreto, as they beat the pair of Rico Montano and Victor Formales in the final Partner’s 8-Ball game.
The Homeboyz remained on top after dispatching the Jam Shooters, 9-4, as it swept the last three Partner’s matches to complete the win. The Assassins also scored a 9-4 decision over Team SCS, while while the Black Ball edged the Titans, 7-6.
In the Tuesday division, the Tasha’s Masters Touch scored a 7-6 win over the Brannon’s 670 Builders to join the Amari’s Blue Haus Destroyers, which drew a bye, on top.
The Masters Touch and Destroyers have similar 20-6 records to share the No. 1 spot, followed by the 9 Eleven Str8 Black Ball (18-8), Brannon’s Docomo Hustlers (15-11), Marianas Water (14-12), Wildboyz (10-16), and the Builders (7-19).
In other games, the Hustlers completed a 9-4 triumph over the Wildboyz, while Marianas Water squeezed out a 7-6 decision against the Black Ball.
