Poll workers now complete, except for Rota
‘Voters not allowed to take selfies with ballots’
Taking selfies with ballots at polling places is not allowed because voters are not permitted to bring electronic equipment inside the voting booths, according to Commonwealth Election Commission executive director Julita A. Villagomez yesterday.
Villagomez said there will be signs at polling places saying that electronic items such as cellphones and cameras are prohibited beyond a specific point or area.
While they have no control over absentee voters, CEC is advising them not to do selfies with their ballots because their votes are supposed to be done in secrecy.
Meanwhile, as of yesterday at noon, except for Rota, poll workers in all precincts are now complete.
Villagomez said they are still waiting for a political party on Rota to submit the names of their poll workers.
CEC staff will conduct a workshop for all Saipan poll workers at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe on Oct. 31.
For Tinian poll workers, the workshop will be on Oct. 27 at the Northern Marianas College, while for Rota it will be on Oct. 28 at NMC.
Each precinct has three poll workers—a supervisor, a poll worker, and a confine worker.
Villagomez said confine workers are those who will go to the house or hospital to get the votes of voters who are sick or not physically able to go to the polling sites.
Voters can request to be “confine voters” between 7am to noon on election day, Nov. 8.
Villagomez posted yesterday the ballot specimen at CEC’s office. Villagomez said some voters like senior citizens want to see the sample ballots so that during the election day it would be easier for them to vote.
