Voter registration drive

Share

I guess my love for the CNMI will always inspire me to think how I can be of service to the community and especially to the guest workers even during my short visits here. Last Saturday, I met with some of the Filipino community leaders and we talked about how we can help during this coming election. One of the things discussed in the meeting was doing a voter registration drive for the U.S. citizen children of guest workers who are or will be eligible to vote in November. During the last few days, I have been going around places to talk to these kids and realized that there is really a need to launch a drive to encourage the youth to register. Over a few days, I met several of them who are already of voting age but have not registered yet so I decided to write this letter.

Please visit the Commonwealth Election Commission at http://votecnmi.gov.mp/ and check if you are qualified to register. If you are qualified, please register. Do not waste your opportunity to create a difference, especially in your parents’ lives. I dream that one day the political power of our youth is already built and they are unified so they can be the voice of the guest workers. It is important to keep our families together and have the opportunity to continue to stay here with improved status.

If you are interested to register and need someone to take you there, please call Ronnie at 235-1965, Andrea at 287-9750 or Irene at 285-0258. I am also asking the parents to help us encourage their children and also talk to other parents as well. Those who are interested to volunteer, you may also call or send us a text message.

I am praying for a successful election this year and may those who truly have the heart for the guest workers win.
