This Saturday, March 14, 2020, the NMI Democratic Party will host its 2nd Presidential Caucus in the CNMI and is inviting volunteers to participate in this event.

Volunteers are needed to assist with caucus registration, ballot access, ballot tabulation, voter file registry, and other necessary duties.

To participate, you must be a U.S. citizen or a resident of the Northern Mariana Islands, and 18 years of age or eligible to vote on or before Nov. 3, 2020.

Those interested can text the word “volunteer” to 484- DEMS (3367) or visit their website, www.nmidems.org, to learn more and register as a volunteer today.

Caucus members on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota will be able to visit the designated caucus voting sites, register to vote if they haven’t already, register with the party, and cast votes for their Democratic Presidential Candidate of choice.

As of March 6, former vice president Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont are the final presidential candidates for the NMI caucus. The caucus will be held on Saipan at the Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Ballroom, with simultaneous sub-caucuses at the following locations: Northern Marianas College Rota Center Room B2-VTC Room and NMC Tinian Center Room C-VTC Room. Doors will open at 5pm, with the doors closing for the caucuses to begin promptly at 6pm.

“There is no better time to get involved in politics and we’re excited to witness such positive feedback from members of the community, college students, and future voters. They’ve seen the historic voter turnout across the country in last week’s Super Tuesday and I agree—it’s time to get on board. Although we cannot vote for President of the United States, we do have a say in the nominee with our caucus event and I encourage our community to show up and participate,” said NMI Democratic Party chair Nola Kileleman Hix.

She said there will be lots of giveaways and other caucus activities for participants. (PR)
