The cleanup was organized by the Taga Badminton Club.

A total of 30 full trash bags of litter, fallen branches, debris, and leaves that had fallen on the area over the past several years were collected by the volunteers. Team members were able to bush cut the grounds, sidewalks, and parking lot islands surrounding the area.

Club president Christy Villaflor said, “It was not that easy to work under the sun for three straight hours bush cutting and cleaning, but we’re all very happy to have cleaned this neglected section of the park. We plan to continue our efforts and do this again very soon.”

Panapa Peteru, project leader, also remarked, “I’d like to thank all our volunteers and those that helped here today. We live in a small community and many of our athletic facilities are shared by different sports so I’m glad that we were able to do something which will benefit us all.”

Northern Marianas Badminton Association secretary general Merlie Tolentino said, “The association is very pleased with the work Taga Badminton Club has done. We are encouraging other clubs to volunteer and give back to our community.”

The Tan Siu Lin Foundation provided supplies, bush cutters, and disposal of the litter and debris in an effort to promote volunteerism projects to the organizations, which its sponsors and supports. (PR)
