Villagomez reappointed to CPA board
The Commonwealth Ports Authority board of directors would be having former senator Thomas Kiyu Villagomez as a board member once again after the Senate approved his reappointment to the post last Friday.
Villagomez has been on the CPA board for a total of eight years.
When asked about the priorities that he wishes to address at CPA, Villagomez said there are a lot of issues to discuss.
“We have a lot of challenges the board needs to address, one of which is the rehabilitation of the airport runway,” he said.
“We also need to address the expansion of the airport. We really need to get back to addressing the master concession plans. We also have the military to address on Tinian. Those are the challenges we are currently facing.”
Villagomez would be working closely with the airport facilities committee, which is chaired by CPA board member Barrie Toves to address the many issues surrounding the Francisco C. Ada-Saipan International Airport.
Villagomez was first appointed to the CPA board back in 2008 by former governor Benigno R. Fitial, was reappointed by the late governor Eloy S. Inos in 2013, and once more by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres. Villagomez said he looks forward to his third consecutive term as a CPA board member.
Villagomez’s last term expired in March 2017.
The seven-man CPA board currently consists of board chair Jose R. Lifoifoi, vice chair Villagomez, secretary Roman Tudela Sr., and members Pete Reyes, Barrie Toves, Kimberly King-Hinds, and Clarence Tenorio.
