For The Love of Volleyball is a warm-up event organized by the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association before the Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival’s Pro-Am Open in Guam later this month.

Lickity Split, made of Jeff Carlucci and Tyler Willsey, did not lose a match on their way to clinching the men’s trophy.

They defeated crowd favorites Old Yellers—Russ Quinn and Tyce Mister—in the finals to complete their unbeaten run.

The Managaha Chiefs!, made up of brothers Larry and Youme Sharry, finished third among the six-team field.

All three pairs will see action in the Pro-Am Open with Carlucci and Willsey playing with different partners.

MmmmmChhhmmmchhh bested eight other teams to rule the women’s side with Christen Steinkuller retaining the title but with Athena Andrews, the Northern Marianas Sports Association October Female Athlete of the Month.

Cupid’s Minions, Charness “Chenny” Lizama and Toni Kasilyn Yamada, finished second, while the Dolphin Duo of Marianas High School girls’ volleyball coach Kathy Winkfield and Sabrina Pangelinan came in third.

Steinkuller, Andrews, Lizama, and Yamada are hoping to earn spots to the Pro-Am Open.

NMIVA would like to extend its gratitude to event host Hyatt Regency Saipan and their staff, Mister and his crew for court maintenance and set up, Amie McRoberts, Anna Yamada, and all volunteers that helped in the registration, games and prizes. (NMIVA)
