Ed Varias was victorious in Fil-Taga Golfers Association’s May Ace of the Month Tournament held last May 28 at the Coral Ocean Resort golf course.

Varias beat a 15-golfer field after shooting a net 67 built around an 89 gross for the 22-handicapper.

Emil Padernal, Mike Cruz, and Jhun Cayetano finished tied with identical net scores of 70, but the former took the runner-up plum thanks to his score of net 34 in the back nine. 

Cruz completed the Top 3 with his calculated 34.5 net in the last nine holes, while Cayetano was caught on the outside looking in with his net 35.

The other Fil-Taga members that took part in the May tournament, with their scores in parenthesis, are as follows: Ruben Avendano (net 74), Joseph Fernandez (net 76), Romy Cayetano (net 76), Wil Maui (net 76), Hak Chon Bae (net 77), Albert Pajarillaga (net 77), Lito Mendoza (net 80), Jess Yumul (net 80), Dan Ganacias (net 80), Tom Palikkun (gross 92), and Das Krishnan (gross 92).

In the par 3 competition, Palikkun took the cake in hole No. 3, while Maui was without peer in hole No. 12. There was no winner in hole No. 14.
