Varias tops Turkey Shootout
Ed Varias was the biggest winner in the Fil-Taga Golfers Association’s Turkey Shootout held last Nov. 19 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
Varias tamed the greens and fairways of the Talafofo golf course for a net 70 to rule the club’s Thanksgiving tournament. He went home with $100 cash plus either a roaster turkey or ham.
Will Maui came in second with his 71 net and took the Fil-Taga November ace. He won $50 plus a box of Busch Light.
Third place went to Dan Ganacias after he fired a net 72. He pocketed $30 plus 12 cans of Busch Light.
Ruben Avendano wound up fourth after losing in a tiebreak with Ganacias. He came away with either a roasted turkey or ham, while completing the Top 5 was Jhun Cayetano with his net 73. He got 12 cans of Busch Light.
Burt Suda (net 74), Bae Hak Chon (net 77), Mike Cruz (net 79), Henry Bautista (net 83), and Das Krishnan (net 84) also took part in the Turkey Shootout and won various in-kind prizes.
Cayetano, Bautista, Maui, and Chon won the par 3 hole competitions.
With the November win, Maui now joins Mike Cruz (January), Lito Mendoza (February) Dan Ganacias (March), Freddie Cataluna (April), Varias (May), Romy Cayetano (June), Jess Yumul (July), Das Krishnan (August), Ronnie Santos (September), and William Retardo (October) for the season-ending Fil-Taga Ace of Aces Tournament.
