US Marshals arrest on Saipan man wanted in S. Carolina since 2015
The U.S. Marshals arrested yesterday on Saipan a man who was indicted in South Carolina for false statement and is wanted since 2015.
The U.S. Marshals served an arrest warrant on Tarell Darnell Murphy that was issued by the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina on July 30, 2015.
According to court documents, the District of Carolina issued the arrest warrant against Murphy for failure to appear for initial appearance on a supervised release violation scheduled for July 21, 2015 at 10am.
According to an indictment, on March 2, 2015 in the District of South Carolina, Murphy “knowingly made a false statement in an application for a passport with intent to induce and secure for his own use the issuance of a passport.”
In that application, Murphy allegedly assumed the identity of “Demetrius Rakim Mcllwain,” which identity he knew to be false.
Court documents did not indicate the specific place on Saipan where the defendant was arrested.
Attorney Bruce Berline was appointed as the defendant’s counsel. An appearance hearing was set yesterday late afternoon before the U.S. District Court for the NMI, but was reset for today, Friday, at 11am, because of another hearing.
