The Keep Your Guard Up, an initiative launched by Guam Gov. Eddie B. Calvo and Maj. Gen. Benny M. Paulino in September last year to help soldiers find jobs, is working with the U.S. Department of Labor to conduct workshops for soldiers.

Trainers from the U.S. Department of Labor are working with the first of two groups of soldiers to provide training in areas of transition planning, career exploration and validation, job search, building effective résumés, federal programs, hiring and applying and skilled interviewing.

This first training session, which focuses on underemployed soldiers, began Sunday and ended yesterday. It took place at the Guam National Guard’s Readiness Center in Barrigada.

The second training session, which will focus on the unemployed soldiers, begins today through Friday and will take place at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort. (PR)
