As a mark of respect and gratitude to law enforcement officers, President Donald J. Trump has proclaimed today, May 15, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 12 through May 18, 2019, as Police Week.

The President has directed that the flag shall be flown at half-staff today at all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the federal government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its territories and possessions, until sunset.

In line with this, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres also directed the lowering of flags in the CNMI today.

On Peace Officers Memorial Day and throughout Police Week, we express our unending gratitude to our nation’s law enforcement officers. Those brave men and women selflessly confront danger to protect our families and defend our communities. We also honor those in blue who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty,” said Torres in a statement. (PR)
