Upset in women’s futsal league

Monroyo)  Baked Girls pulled off a upset over frontrunner Xerox, 4-0, in the women’s division game in the 2012 Saipan Soccer School Summer Futsal League last Wednesday at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.

With the big win, Baked Girls improved to a 3-1-3 win-draw-loss record and retained the No. 4 spot in the six-team field with its 10 points, just one point behind third placer Wild Bill’s (3-2-1). Xerox fell to a 5-1-2 card and still holds the No. 1 spot, but has a slim lead over Shirley’s Coffee Shop (4-1-1). IT&E Awesome (1-0-4) and Mellow Yellow (0-1-5) complete the league.

Baked Girls cruised to a shutout win after going full blast on offense in the second half. Baked Girls made only one goal, courtesy of Coquina Teregeyo, in the first 25 minutes of play before notching three in the final frame. Chutima and Melissa Borja, and Ratree Ditsiwet added one goal each in the second half, bringing Baked Girls’ total in seven games to 18.

MEN’S

Wild Bill’s 9, Go Green Team 3

The lone men’s game played last Wednesday also had lopsided results with Wild Bill’s downing Go Green Team.

Wild Bill’s was ahead by only one at halftime, 2-1, before breaking away in the second half. Jack Thoensaket scored Wild Bill’s twin goals in the first half and exploded for four more in the second to lift the team to the easy win.

Angelo Guevarra gave Go Green Team its only goal in the first half, while Raphael Zapanta and Kenneth Domingo chipped in one each in the second half.

Besides Thoensaket’s four goals in the second half, Wild Bill’s also drew contributions from Tanapon Unsa (two goals) and Adul Detdon and Kai Khamka, who nailed one goal apiece.

Wild Bill’s remained undefeated in five games and padded its goals total to 59, just two short of Godfather’s (4-0-1) collection.

Go Green Team absorbed its fifth loss in as many games and has scored only eight goals while allowing its foes 56 goals so far.

YOUTH

Astig 9, Thundercats 3

Astig 4, IT&E 0

In the boys U18 division, Astig routed the Thundercats.

Unsa drained five goals in his first game of the night to power Astig to its fourth win in as many matches. Jeff Palacios added two, while Kenneth Domingo and Joshua Galarion logged one each.

Astig had the game in the bag as early in the first half when Unsa made four goals and Galarion also scored for their 5-1 advantage. Juanito Tiamzon recorded the Thundercats’ lone goal in the first half and added one more in the second. Don Cabrera nailed the other goal for the Thundercats, who fell to a 2-0-3 slate.

In the U14 division, Astig blanked IT&E to post its first win after drawing the first two matches against the latter.

Palacios gave Astig two goals, while Billy Hinson and Galarion chipped in one each.
