Update on coronavirus outbreak’s economic impact

The CNMI Department of Labor is inviting all businesses to attend a workshop on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, with a focus on the coronavirus outbreak, with special attention to its impacts on health, tourism, and workforce.  

Topics of discussion will include local labor regulations, CW-1 regulations, workforce trends, and the WIOA Apprenticeship State Expansion grant, among others.

The workshop will also feature two guest speakers: Esther Muña, chief executive officer of the Commonwealth Health Care Corp., who will discuss COVID-19 countermeasures in the workplace; and Gloria Cavanagh, chairperson of the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, who will speak on the economic impact of COVID-19 on the tourism industry.
