Upcoming police checkpoints
The CNMI Department of Public Safety will be conducting a total of for seatbelt and child restraint checkpoints on Wednesday, May 22, and Friday, May 24.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 22, 2019
The first checkpoint will be on Chalan Pale Arnold, Garapan to Chalan Pale Arnold, Chalan Lau Lau, from 8am to 10am.
The second checkpoint will be on Beach Road, Garapan to Beach Road, San Jose, from 3pm to 6pm.
FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2019
The first checkpoint will be on Beach Road, Garapan to Beach Road, Susupe, from 9am to 12pm.
The second checkpoint will be on Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, San Jose to Isa Drive, San Vicente, from 3pm to 6pm.
The purpose of the checkpoints are to promote public safety while increasing the awareness of the dangers of not utilizing a vehicles occupant protection system as well as child restraints systems while driving on the islands roadways. Locations of these check-points were pre-determined based on the number of auto accidents in these areas.
DPS would like to remind the public to use the proper carseat(s) when transporting children and to use your seatbelt when driving or riding through the islands’ roads. (PR)
