UOG School of Nursing dean wins Nurse of the Year Award

Margaret Hattori-Uchima, dean of the University of Guam School of Nursing & Health Sciences, was awarded the 2019 GNA Nurse of the Year Award on May 5 at the 68th Annual Guam Nurses Association Anniversary, Recognition, and Awards Banquet.

Hattori-Uchima has been a nurse educator at UOG for more than 17 years and a Registered Nurse for 34 years. She has led the nursing program to many accomplishments, including the improvement of the graduates’ NCLEX pass rate to 100% for the past three years, and has co-authored several grant applications to bring in additional funds and learning experiences for the school. She has been an active member of the Guam Homeless Coalition since 2009 as well as a member of several other professional organizations and honor societies. (PR)
