The University of Guam College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS) continues its search for wild bees.

Chris Rosario, research associate with the Western Pacific Tropical Research Center at CNAS, has been surveying bees on Guam and in the region as part of the Honeybee Health Survey funded by USDA-APHIS.

“Bees are not only important as pollinators for many crops and forest plants, they are fascinating insects to study,” said Rosario.

Rosario needs help from the public to assist him in finding wild (feral) bee colonies, on Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, especially if they are causing a problem for neighborhoods or homeowners. He would like to remove the problem bees and give them a new home in a hive.

Individuals, government entities, and private businesses are welcome to contact Rosario regarding feral bees at 487-1640, 735-2068.
