In addition to considerable cash and other prizes, first place winners of the upcoming golf tournament hosted by the NMC Foundation will also win roundtrip airfare tickets between Guam and Micronesia, Hong Kong, Manila, or Australia.

The plane tickets have been donated by United Airlines in support of the 10th Annual Foundation Open golf tournament, which will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012. The tournament aims to raise critical funds for the Northern Marianas College, the lone post-secondary, WASC-accredited institution in the CNMI.

“United has always been a strong supporter of expanding higher education opportunities for students in the CNMI and throughout the Pacific region,” said Paula Monk, senior sales manager for Guam and Micronesia.

“We are proud to support the Foundation’s effort to ensure that CNMI students have access to enhanced instructional programs and service,” she added.

“We are extremely grateful for United Airlines’ contribution to the tournament and its continued commitment to the College,” said Ivan Quichocho, NMC Foundation president.

The 10th Annual Foundation Open golf tournament is set to be a one-day event to take place at the West Course of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort. Show time is 6am with a shotgun start at 7am sharp.

“I encourage all golfers to come out on Saturday to play for a very worthy cause,” added Quichocho. “We’re targeting 120 golfers, which will make for a great field in one of the finest tournaments of the season.”

In addition to the roundtrip tickets, there are cash prizes for the top winners of the six flights: $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. There are also significant hole-in-one prizes, including a 2012 Hyundai Accent.

To register to play, stop by Triple J Motors , the Laolao Bay Golf Course, or the NMC Cashier’s Office to complete a registration form and pay the $95 entrance fee. Registration forms can also be downloaded from the NMC website at www.nmcnet.edu.

The NMC Foundation is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to ensuring that CNMI students receive the utmost support in pursuing their educational goals. For more information about the tournament, contact NMC at 234-5498 Ext. 1050 or 1051. (NMC)
