University of Guam President Dr. Robert Underwood has issued the following statement regarding Gov. Eddie Calvo’s letter to Speaker Won Pat:

“The University of Guam is eager to answer questions at a round table or public hearing as organized by Speaker Won Pat who is chair of the Committee on Higher Education. We know this is a highly charged topic to many and justifiably so. The University of Guam has followed its procedures and is currently in the process of revising its policies and procedures to further improve the learning environment at the university. We do not tolerate sexual harassment, and we do not tolerate sexual assault. We have not covered up any crimes or scandals, and we have cooperated fully with the civil authorities.”

Underwood asks any member of the university community who has information or has been a victim of sexual harassment to call the UOG EEO Office at 735-2244. Confidentiality is assured. The public may also call Phil Tydingco at the Attorney General’s Office at 475-3406 ext. 2410 or Tony Blas at extension 2210.
