UFO sets activities for Pistang Pinoy

The United Filipino Organization has a bevy of activities lined up for the 2014 Pistang Pinoy this Sunday, June 15, at the Garapan Fishing Base.

First up, the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity will be organizing a medical mission where volunteer nurses will be conducting blood pressure and glucose level checks. There will also be a vision check by Hardt Eye Clinic.

“We are hoping that the Department of Public Health can join us so we can offer more free services to the CNMI community,” said UFO president Annamae Adaza.

Next up is a Panlasang Pinoy food contest spearheaded by Akap Pinoy from 12pm to 2pm. The prepared menu includes crispy kangkong appetizer, ampalaya for ensalada; sinigang na baboy for soup, grilled tuna fish with lemon butter sauce for the main course, and sapin-sapin for dessert.

Prizes are set at $200 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third, including certificates of participation. Deadline for registration is today, June 12, and at least two members per participant are required.

Contests, games, non-stop live entertainment, and raffle drawings will follow from 2pm to 6pm.

The contests include making nipa huts using popsicle sticks, a father-and-child singing contest, and a drawing contest for kids. Games include sack race, tug-of-war, and a jumping house for children.

The contestants of the 2014 Pinoy Super Mom beauty pageant will also be introduced to the public.
