UFO gears up for upcoming events

Officers of the United Filipino Organization met yesterday evening to begin planning and preparation for the group’s events next month.
UFO president Bong Malasarte said in an interview before the meeting that the group is scheduled to sponsor a booth to provide refreshments to Catholic pilgrims in the annual Mt. Tapochao trek on Good Friday.
He said the group will also host an inter-organizational basketball league later in April to develop sportsmanship and camaraderie among various organizations affiliated with UFO.
“We will be occupied with the logistics of these two events,” Malasarte told Saipan Tribune.
Malasarte said financial constraints are their major challenge in conducting UFO programs such as the Tapochao trek and the basketball league. “But with the support of our community, we hope to make it a successful reality,” he added.
After their April events, Malasarte said they will prep up for the Pistang Pinoy, which is their biggest annual community event that celebrates Philippine Independence Day
