U15, U18 spring league kicks off tomorrow

Monroyo)  Action in the U15 and U18 divisions of the 2012 NMIFA Youth Spring League will start tomorrow at two different pitches.

Over at the Oleai Sports Complex, boys U15 defending champion MP United 1 will start its campaign against Matansa Football Club, as the two teams square off in the second game at 3:15pm. MP United 2 will also play in the opening week, taking on Shirley’s FC at 1:30pm.

Six teams are entered in the boys U15 league with Paire Football Club and Tan Holdings completing the roster. Paire will have its season debut next week when it duels Matansa at 1:30pm, while Tan Holdings first game will be against Shirley’s FC at 3:15pm.

Format for the boys U15 league is double-round robin.

The boys’ U18 will be played for four rounds, as four teams are entered in the division. Defending champion MP United will have its debut next week against Tan Holdings FC at 10am at the Oleai pitch. Tan Holdings FC will see action in the opener this Saturday against Paire.

The boys U18 will have only one game every week at 10am. Completing the field is Matansa, which will debut in the spring league on March 17 against Tan Holdings FC.

For the girls U15, matches will be played at the Hopwood Junior High School Field with five teams competing for the championship. Defending champion Matansa leads the list and will be joined by Shirley’s FC, Paire, and MP United.

Two games will be played every week for the girls U15. Tan Holdings and Matansa will square off in the opener at 3pm, while MP United collides against Paire in the second match at 4:30pm.

Meanwhile, the non-competitive games in the four other age groups had started the spring season last Saturday at the various school fields on Saipan.

The co-ed U6 division has five teams in Tan Holdings, Shirley’s. MP United, Paire, and Matansa, while U10 has the most squads this season with eight. The co-ed U10 field includes Matansa, Paire 1 and 2, Tan Holdings 1 and 2, MP United 1 and 2, and Shirley’s. The co-ed U18 and U12 have seven teams apiece. Playing in the U8 are Shirley’s two teams from Paire and MP United, Tan Holdings, and Matansa. MP United and Paire also have two entries each in the U12 division and they will battle Matansa, Tan Holdings, and Shirley’s FC.
