Twin wins for golfer Jess Yumul
Jess Yumul had a double celebration over the weekend after winning the Filtaga Golfers Association 2017 Ace of Aces yearend tournament and the group’s January monthly Ace for 2018.
Yumul, who was the 2017 November Ace winner, shot an 89 at the Kingfisher Golf Links last Sunday and with a 23 handicap he earned a net score of 66 to beat December monthly champion Rodel Macasinag’s 73 (96 gross and 23 handicap).
Five players—Freddie Cataluna (March 2017), Manny Po, Nestor Siruelo, Albert Pajarillaga (October 2017), and Raffy Piamonte—were tied for third place after their similar scores of 75s.
Hak Chon Bae, John Matsumoto, Edgar Abalos, Tony Cabrera, Mike Cruz, Rene Batallones, William Retardo, Ruben Avandano, Paul Kaipat, Emil Pedernal, Paul Bea, and Ernie Lopez were the other Filtaga members that competed in last weekend’s event.
Dan Ganacias (A division), Larry Pascual, Joseph Fernandez (A division), Ronnie Santos, Ely Buenaventura, and Lito Mendoza (A division) were the other monthly Ace winners for April, June, July, August, September, and December, respectively, but did not play in the season-ending competition.
