Tween/Teen/Adult January activities at JKPL
It’s January and the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library has lots of fun activities for tweens, teens, and adults. Please see below:
• Friday, Jan. 11, all month – We are releasing our NEW Programs in a Bag! These are simple crafts or DIYs that you can check out, bring home, and return when you have completed the craft. These bags are available to patrons 10 and up, and have a 1-week checkout period. Library card required. The bags will change each month – this month’s activity is DIY Charger Cord decorating! Programs in a Bag will be released on Jan. 11 and will be available to check out all month.
• Saturday, Jan. 19, 12:30pm-2:30pm – The Great Stories Club is continuing on with March: Book 3 by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin and Nate Powell. This is a wonderful graphic novel about the Civil Rights movement. The book club will meet once this month, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, after which the participants will be able to keep the book and receive a fun prize! If interested, please sign up online at https://goo.gl/forms/xJvXHxBxZbkyEEYs2 or in the library! Please note that the book club is for participants ages 13-18. Missed out on January’s book club? Sign up for the February book club!
• Saturday, Jan/ 26, 1pm-2pm – Are you in grades 4th-12th? Do you like ice cream? If you answered YES to either of these questions, sign up for the Secret Science of Ice Cream! This is a fun program that will explore the science of how ice cream is made. We will learn about ice cream, make our own ice cream, then eat it! Registration is required, as well as a library card clear of fines. Children ages 12 and under MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Limited seating – sign up today at the Reference desk in the library!
Programs and activities are sponsored by the Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, and are made possible by IMLS Grant # LSTA LS-00-18-0052-18 and IMLS Grant # LSTA LS-01-18-0058-18.
