Tsunami Saipan to compete in Guam meet

Sixteen members of Tsunami Swimming Center Saipan are in Guam to race in the Guam Championships 2018 this weekend at the Hagatna Swimming Pool.
Selected to represent the club in the two-day tournament were Maria Batallones, Ashley and Aasish Dangol, Aika, Kouki, and Nanaka Watanabe, Juhn Tenorio, Isaiah Alekseno, Asaka and Shoko Litulumar, Hans Xu, an first-timers Fiona Regan, Shuman Barman, Kean Pajarillaga, Alex Kim, and Joseph Zhang.
Tsunami Saipan coach Hiro Kimura is expecting Guam meet returnees Batallones, the Dangol siblings, Tenorio, Aleksenko, and captain Aika Watanabe to win gold medals in their respective events, while Nanaka, Kouki, and Xu are pressed to bring home silvers. The Tsunami Saipan coach is also counting on Regan, Litulumar, Barman, Kim, and Zhang to at least earn bronze medals in their debut in the long-course meet.
Majority of the Tsunami Saipan swimmers will have eight events each in the tournament organized by the Guam Swimming Federation. They will race in the 1,500m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 100m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, and 100m freestyle events this afternoon.
For tomorrow’s competition, the club will participate in the 800m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle, and 200m medley relay in the morning session, while the afternoon race will feature the 400m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 200m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 200m individual medley, and 200m freestyle relay events.
