Tsunami Swimming Center Saipan has began its summer swimming courses early this month, offering three classes at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool.

Sessions in the summer swim course are held every Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 5pm to 6pm and interested swimmers age 4 to 12 can choose to enter Level I, II, or III classes.

The Level I course is for children who can’t swim. At the session, they will be taught how to get comfortable in the water. Participants will learn breathing patterns and techniques, kicking tips, and other fun water activities.

For Level II, swimmers will learn how to kick using the board, breathing techniques on freestyle swims, and introduction to backstroke event. Confidence while in the water will be also enhanced.

For Level III, participants will practice streamline kick and breathing in the water for more than 10 seconds. They will also learn breathing skills while doing freestyle and backstroke swims.

Tsunami Saipan head coach Hiro Kimura said participants who will show significant improvement after the course can advance to the club’s athlete course and eventually join the pool of Tsunami Saipan’s swimmers.

The course will continue until next month and interested participants are allowed to report at the venue 10 minutes before the start time. Swimming cap, goggles, and kick board are needed and they are available for sale at the pool.
